MAYFLOWER, Ark. — The City of Mayflower is now without its mayor, animal control officer, police chief, and a city council member after each resigned in the last 10 days.

As concerns continue to grow throughout the community about transparency within the city government, Danny Hester announced that he will no longer serve as the city's mayor after Nov. 4.

One resident said that she isn’t surprised by the multiple recent resignations, especially after some questions were raised about the city council and their actions regarding animal shelter in the city.

“This is not a surprise to a lot of Mayflower residents,” said resident Madison Morris.

A second resident said that he’s hoping the community gets more transparency from their city government.
