Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena has officially assumed command of the Southern Naval Command, succeeding Vice Admiral V Srinivas following a prominent career in the Indian Navy spanning nearly four decades. The ceremony took place at the SNC War Memorial, Naval Base, Kochi, where both officers honored those who sacrificed for the nation.

Commissioned into the navy on July 1, 1989, Saxena is a seasoned expert in Navigation and Direction. He has a distinguished educational background from the National Defence Academy and the Naval War College. Throughout his career, Saxena has held several strategic positions across operational, staff, and training spheres.
