Fighting to keep alive their hopes of a playoff berth, the Slidell Tigers answered every time Chalmette pulled ahead in the teams' key District 7-5A battle Thursday at Chalmette.
In the end, however, Slidell turned back the Owls for a 36-28 victory in overtime at Bobby Nuss Stadium.
Running back Ja'Kwan Jones scored on 2-yard run in overtime, then ran in the 2-point conversion from a wildcat formation, and linebacker Bryant Brown intercepted the ball in the end zone on Chalmette's possession to seal the victory.
“Our kids just were resilient,” said second-year Tigers coach Damon Page. “I'm so proud of our kids how they fought, on the road, and our coaching staff came together and really did a great job.
“This win means everything.”
