An important part of what you need to provide for your cat is a litter box. It was not that many years ago when our cats, despite being called “house cats,” spent a great deal of time outdoors. The need to have one or more litter boxes indoors was practically non-existent. Today, for the cat’s safety and because humans provide all their cat’s needs in their homes, a “house cat” is truly part of the family.

In fact, many people use at least two boxes—one box per cat, plus an extra located elsewhere in the house. It’s worth doing a bit of research prior to buying a litter box. A standard low-sided box may work fine for many cats, but if your cat is larger than average, you may want to opt for a bigger box or a box with high sides.
