INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metro Police Department is investigating after a man was struck by a minivan Thursday night.
Accoridng to IMPD, just before 8 p.m, officers responded to the intersection or South Illinois Street and West Maryland Steet on a report of an accident involving a pedestrian struck.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male in the road with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
The male driver of the minivan stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The driver of the minivan took a chemical test for impairment, which is standard procedure in serious injury or fatal crashes. Police believe impairment in not a factor.
