Billie Eilish turned her acceptance speech into a rallying cry for compassion and social responsibility at the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards in New York on October 29. The Grammy-winning artist, who received the Music Innovator Award, used her moment on stage to urge the wealthy to give back – even as billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan sat in the audience.
“We’re in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark, and people need empathy and help more than ever — especially in our country,” Eilish said. “If you have money, it would be great to use it for good things — maybe give it to some people that need it.”
