Idon’t know if it’s the giant obnoxious ships consistently docked at Sydney Harbour or the Hawaiian shirts boarding them, but I have always been one of those ‘cruising is not for me’ types.

Stuck on a boat for multiple days with hundreds or even thousands of other passengers with no escape? No thanks.

But when the opportunity came up to go on a four-day cruise with my family aboard the famous Carnival Splendor ship, I’ll admit: I was intrigued.

Would four days on board confirm every stereotype I knew about cruising, or would I discover something else? Only time would tell.
