PHELPS, Ky. — The Phelps (Kentucky) football team clinched its first winning season since 1998 as the Hornets finished the 2025 campaign 6-3 following a 24-14 win over Mount View on Thursday night at Marty Casey Stadium.
"It feels amazing, especially to the community," Hornets co-coach Zack Francis said. "These boys that I've had this year have worked super, super hard for this. They've earned everything they've gotten all year."
Despite not competing in district play or being eligible for the postseason, this accomplishment still made Francis and company feel good.
"It being my first year where they had just dropped out of district again last year, I'm not allowed to go into it for two years, so that's the reason," Francis said.
