A former adult film star is staring down four years in prison for allegedly causing a photographer's death with toad venom. Nacho Vidal and his cousin are both facing reckless homicide charges over the 2019 tragedy. ‌

On 28 July that year, Vidal, now 51, orchestrated a ceremony involving a pipe loaded with bufo toad venom for smoking. He positioned the pipe between José Luis Abad's lips, sparked it up, and coached the 49 year old through breathing in the "medicine", despite lacking any medical training whatsoever. ‌
