The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has achieved a major milestone in its journey toward energy self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability. By harnessing solar power, the civic body has successfully saved ₹5.91 crore in electricity bills.

PCMC has installed solar rooftop systems on 86 of its properties, including the main administrative building, schools, crematoriums, swimming pools, theatres, badminton halls, and hospitals. These systems generate 3 megawatts of electricity per hour, producing 59.17 lakh units by September 2025. This initiative has not only reduced energy costs but also strengthened the city’s green energy efforts.
