When my partner and I tell the story of how we opened Liars Bench Beer Company , we always start with how we met. Randomly paired as freshman roommates at UNH. I tell that story often, but these days, the story that needs telling is about my other roommates from years past. My old neighbors and friends. My former colleagues. The people of Portsmouth who make up a lesser but vital income bracket, and who are being priced out of our city. Or as we say in my industry, those of us who are either 86’d or just about to be.
