The Skidmore-Tynan girls cross country program has been no stranger to the UIL State Meet.

But the Lady Cats had never qualified for the state championships as a team.

Until 2025.

Led by returning state qualifier Sarah Pena, who finished sixth, Skidmore-Tynan snared a fourth-place finish at the Region IV-2A meet to qualify as a team this year.

"Looking at the girls and knowing where their hearts are, I told them at the beginning of the season there was a genuine potential and possibility, if they would do what it takes, to make it to the state meet," coach Catherine Stowe said. This is school history, and these girls have been able to make it for themselves and for seasons to come. I fed them that seed early on with gentle reminders along the way and they wanted it."
