TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - An East Texas couple on their honeymoon in Jamaica made it through Hurricane Melissa safely.

“We said goodbye and did not think in a million years this was going to happen,” said Kim Nottke, Kasydee’s mom. This nightmare unfolded not only for Hunter and Kasydee Bishop, but also for their family, as the newlyweds found themselves trapped in Montego Bay, Jamaica, as Hurricane Melissa moved across the island as a Category 5 Hurricane.

“I’m just so thankful that they are safe. Now we are just working on trying to get them out of there,” said Don Nottke, Kasydee’s dad. Kim tried for three days to fly the couple home, but all flights were cancelled as Melissa grew to a Category 5 hurricane.
