Several kilos of suspected cocaine that a now-former aide to Gov. Maura Healey stands accused of trafficking were emblazoned with the phrase “GOLD,” leading investigators to believe a cartel may have supplied them, court papers allege.

The information came in a law enforcement affidavit filed in the case against LaMar D. Cook, 45, of Springfield.

Cook was fired as deputy director of the governor’s Western Massachusetts office following his arrest Tuesday night a day after investigators searched his office, officials said.

Cook pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday in Springfield District Court, where he was ordered held pending a detention hearing Friday morning.
