As Forge FC gets prepared for a must-win semifinal against Cavalry FC on Sunday, three of its players are getting a huge gold star from their peers.
Kyle Bekker, Nan Ampomah and Daniel Nimick were all named to the Canadian Premier League’s 10-man short list for Players’ Player of the Year.
This award is chosen by voting among other players in the league making it the only honour selected by the winner’s peers. No Forge player has won in the three years it’s been handed out, though Bekker was runner-up two years ago and Tristan Borges was runner-up last year.
The winner will be announced next Friday.
While Bekker hasn’t won this award, he’s no stranger to league hardware. The team captain won the CPL player of the year award in 2020 and has been nominated for it four other times.
