According to a front-page article on Oct. 29, “ GOP senators aim to get rid of mail-in ballot grace period ,” Ohio Senate Bill 293 would require all mail-in ballots to be postmarked by the day before the election and to arrive by Election Day, thus eliminating the current four-day grace period.
It seems to me the GOP state senators behind this bill should be more concerned with why approximately 9,500 Ohio ballots arrived late last November. If they were postmarked by Monday, and Election Day was on Tuesday, why didn’t they get delivered until Wednesday through Saturday? It’s not like they are in anonymous envelopes.
And with SB 293, what incentive does the Postal Service have to get ballots promptly delivered? In fact, since part of the discussion is about potential voter fraud, what’
