Russian drones struck Sumy in Ukraine overnight, injuring at least 11 people, the regional prosecutor's office said on Friday.

At least four children were among the injured, it added.

The head of the regional administration said attack drones damaged multiple residential buildings and homes.

The strike forced residents to escape from "fire and debris," he added.

Ukraine's train operator said Russian drones also struck a passenger train depot in Sumy, damaging its premises and rolling stock.

Overall, Russia fired one ballistic missile and 145 drones of various types at Ukraine overnight, according to country's air force.

It reported that the ballistic missile and 107 drones were intercepted and jammed, while 36 drones reached their targets.

The Associated Press had no independent means of verifying these numbers.
