It's Halloween, so drivers should watch for children walking on roads, medians and curbs and be alert to children who may be excited and dart into the street.

Here are some safety tips you need to know from police in Baltimore and Howard counties.

In Howard County, detectives have accounted for all 139 registered sex offenders. (One was found to be non-compliant, which means not residing at their registered address, and was found and charged accordingly.) Parents who want to be aware of offenders' residences when mapping out their trick-or-treat route can check the Maryland Sex Offender Registry .
