A person riding an electric bicycle died Thursday after a collision with a Jeep Wrangler near Berkeley Street in Brevard County on Thursday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on the State Road A1A sidewalk when they entered the path of a southbound 2001 Jeep Wrangler.

The bicyclist was transported to Holmes Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and was not transported.

The crash is under investigation.
