OpenAI’s Sam Altman has shared his frustration publicly after a long wait — seven and a half years — for his Tesla vehicle, and is now requesting a refund of the $50,000 he paid when he made his reservation.
In a post accompanied by screenshots of his email correspondence with Tesla, Altman recounts the full timeline:
In 2018, he received a confirmation email: “We have successfully received your reservation payments. Your reservation is now paid in full."
This year, the message he sent back: “Hi, I’d like to cancel my reservation. Could you please refund me the $50 k?"
A third email in the chain revealed that the original email address used by Tesla for the booking confirmation “was no longer in service."
