“It Could Have Helped Me Get Out Sooner”
More than a decade ago, Valori Slaughter says she endured a year and a half of abuse. She says the new law, Senate Bill 607, that passed earlier this year, could have changed her story.
“It’s a step that could have helped me get out of that situation a lot faster,” Slaughter said. Slaughter recalls the night an officer was at her home and asked if she had a mirror and the moment she saw the bruises covering her body.
