Ben Shelton has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters after a straight-sets win over Andrey Rublev.
The American, who is playing his second tournament since returning from an injury at the US Open, took down Rublev 7-6, 6-3 on Thursday.
He’ll next play Francisco Cerundolo or Jannik Sinner, who has a chance to reclaim the world number one ranking from Carlos Alcaraz this week. The win over Rublev also secures Shelton’s first appearance at the ATP Tour Finals.
Shelton, who beat Flavio Cobolli in the previous round, will be the only American in the last eight after Taylor Fritz lost to Alexander Bublik earlier in the day.
