PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) -- A woman is dead after a tree fell on top of her car while driving in the East Falls section of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Police say this happened late Thursday morning along West School House Lane. Investigators say a 44-year-old woman was driving a silver Ford Mustang when the tree fell on top of her car. She was found dead at the scene.

A witness told Action News at 10 on PHL17, "The car was completely smashed. Obviously, a tree hit it."

The police have not released the woman's identity.
