Earlier this month, President Trump announced that, in an effort to help prop up the struggling economy of Argentina, an important ally in South America, the administration planned to quadruple the quota of beef the U.S. buys from that country. Trump said this would not only be good for Argentina but would also be good for American consumers, in that it would help bring beef prices in the U.S. down. Reaction in the nation's beef-producing mid-section has been extremely critical. In Oklahoma, the put out the following statement:
"President Trump’s notion to bring more beef in from Argentina in order to lower consumer beef price is very bad policy. This action of government intervention will cause tremendous negative impacts on Oklahoma and America’s beef producers. Further compounding this
