Iwas reading a book of columns from a sports writer by the name of Hal Lebovitz.

He spent 60 years covering everything from high schools to the pros.

Lebovitz passed away in 2005, but many of the subjects he wrote about are still relavent in today’s sports environment.

One of the columns he wrote was titled ‘No appreciation for former heroes.’

In a nutshell, the column was about how current players don’t know the history of their teams and those who came before them.

As we prepare to say goodbye to the players in the Class of 2026, many of whom who have either completed their high school careers, or those who will do so on Friday or over the next handful of weeks, hopefully they have an understanding of where they fit in their team’s history.
