A key decision that could enable the construction of a hydrogen plant at Teesworks has been pushed back once again. BP's H2 Teesside hydrogen project plans and proposals for an AI data centre have been pitted against each other.
And Energy Secretary Ed Miliband was set to rule whether the hydrogen project would get the government seal of approval by the end of October. However, that decision will now not be made until December.
Over the summer, the proposed data centre was granted planning permission by Redcar and Cleveland Council - in spite of an objection that it would be incompatible with the hydrogen plant.
Prior to this, South Tees Development Corporation (STDC) and Teesworks’ commercial arm Teesworks Limited, objected to the potential granting of a development consent order
