John Carmouche , who chairs the LSU's Board of Supervisors' Athletic Committee, said the taxpayers of Louisiana will not foot the bill for an LSU football coach during a press conference Friday.

Carmouche, an attorney and senior partner with the law firm of Talbot, Carmouche & Marcello, responded to a question from a reporter asking about Gov. Jeff Landry's statements over his concerns about multi-million dollar contracts and how the public's money was spent.

"The governor had a right to be concerned and we're working towards solutions. Everything's on the table," Carmouche said. "But let me make it clear, the state has never — the taxpayers have never paid for a coach and never will."
