SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The Summit League could be losing one of its member universities, according to an ESPN report.

On Friday morning, ESPN reporter Pete Thamel said the University of Denver has accepted an invitation to join the West Coast Conference in July 2026. Denver has been a member of the Summit League since 2013.

Currently, the Summit League has nine universities – Denver, Kansas City, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Nebraska-Omaha, Oral Roberts, St. Thomas, South Dakota and South Dakota State.

This summer, the Summit League announced the conference basketball tournament will stay in Sioux Falls through 2029 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
