SMITH COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) - A Missing and Endangered notification was issued for a 14-year-old in Smith County.

According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI), Melvin Harter, of Mount Olive, was last seen around 12:00 p.m. on October 30, 2025, in the 100 block of CR 47. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black backpack.

Agents said Harter was traveling in an unknown direction. According to family members, Harter suffers from a medical condition that may impair his judgment.
