Charlie Austin’s fan-funded move to Basingstoke Town has come to an end after just two months.

The former Premier League regular initially joined the seventh-tier outfit in August , with his wages paid for by club supporters.

Austin made four appearances for ‘Stoke, and scored on his debut; however, he suffered an injury against Hungerford Town.

The 36-year-old successfully lobbied for supporter payments for his salary to be immediately halted so that fans and members avoided paying for an inactive player.
