ROCKLAND, Maine (WABI) - A Bowdoin man is facing charges after Rockland Police say he sexually assaulted a minor.

Rockland Police said they took a call from a person earlier this week who saw 27-year-old Matthew Boegel, a registered sex offender, having contact with a juvenile.

Authorities said they found Boegel and the juvenile in Camden, and Boegel was arrested on an unrelated warrant.

After further investigation, Rockland Police said they found evidence of a sexual assault on a minor.

On Friday, Rockland Police said Boegel, who was still in custody, was charged with sexual abuse of minors and violation of conditions of release.
