The Santa Fe Farmers Market will offer $40 vouchers to qualifying individuals beginning Saturday that can be used to purchase food.
The New Mexico Department of Health's Farmers' Market Nutrition Program recently allocated assistance funds to the Santa Fe Farmers' Market Institute — the nonprofit overseeing the market — the Institute said in an email Friday. The goal is to "bring fresh & locally-grown foods to households in need during November 2025."
The announcement comes amid a federal government shutdown that has imperiled funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and other state officials announced earlier this week the state would provide some money to keep the program funded in the interim
