BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A man has been convicted in the 2020 homicide of a man who was found shot to death on the back porch of a home.

A jury convicted Raynod Sistrunk Thursday in the murder of 20-year-old Naqwaun Torez Garner. He was found on the back porch of a home in the 1300 block of Pineview Road Dec. 7, 2020.

Birmingham police say ShotSpotter alerted them of the shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates Garner tried to enter the back door of his residence when he was ambushed by Sistrunk, who ran after the shooting.

Sistrunk will be sentenced Dec. 10.
