BARLING, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Barling police arrested the owner of the Sebastian County Retirement Center amid an investigation into an alleged rape and failure to report it properly.
On Thursday, Oct. 30, patrol officers with the Barling Police Department (BPD) arrested Linda Short, 74, owner of the Sebastian County Retirement Center, on an active warrant for Failure to Report Adult Maltreatment.
According to Barling police, the arrest stems from an ongoing investigation into an alleged rape that reportedly occurred at the facility. While investigating the sexual assault allegation, officers opened a secondary investigation into whether the incident had been properly reported to the appropriate authorities, as required by Arkansas’ mandated reporter law.
