MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - A former Monroe County Sheriff’s Office correctional officer has been charged with bringing contraband into the county’s jail, according to Sheriff Tommy Jones. It isn’t the first time this year an officer has been accused of bringing illegal items into the jail.

Jones said 39-year-old Officer Michael Phillip Zackey was charged with introduction of contraband into a penal facility. Jones added that Zackey turned himself in at the jail Friday morning, where he was processed and released on bond.
