Mokama was rocked by violence on Thursday when Dularchand Yadav, a close aide of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and once a formidable figure in the region’s politics, was shot dead during election campaigning. The incident unfolded as clashes broke out between two rival groups, quickly escalating into firing and chaos.
Dularchand, who was campaigning for Jan Suraaj party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi, was hit in the chest and died on the spot, eyewitnesses said. As gunfire rang out, panic swept through the area, forcing people to flee in fear.
Shortly after the incident, Piyush Priyadarshi posted a video on Facebook, directly accusing JDU candidate Anant Singh of orchestrating the attack. The video, posted around 3 PM, alleged that the ambush was pre-planned and politically motivated.
