Bhubaneswar: Skeletal remains of a person were found inside Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Friday.

According to sources, some Forest Department officials spotted a skull, jawbone, ribs, and leg bones during a search operation in the area and alerted Chandaka police, who rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. “We were alerted by forest officials who came across the skeleton,” said DCP Jagmohan Meena. Initial probe indicates that the individual might have been burnt to death.

While locals suspect that the remains could be a villager who had been reported missing for over a month, police are awaiting forensic findings to confirm the identity of the deceased and the circumstances leading to his death.
