WYOMING, MI -- A man has been arraigned on a second-degree murder charge for a single-vehicle Christmas Eve 2023 freeway crash that killed a young mother.

Fernando Ocampo-Aguilar, 28, was arraigned Friday, Oct. 31 in Wyoming District Court of charges of second-degree murder and operating while intoxicated causing death.

State police said he was involved in a rollover crash on southbound U.S. 131 near 54th Street about 3 a.m. Dec. 24.

At the time, police said said speed, foggy conditions, and possibly drugs and alcohol were factors in the crash.

Police said two people were in the rolled vehicle and both were ejected. One died and the other was seriously injured.
