UPDATE: Two federal judges ruled Friday afternoon that the Trump Administration must continue to fund SNAP during the government shutdown .

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Hamilton County Commissioner Alicia Reece and several other organizations and church leaders are calling on Congress to reopen the federal government and save SNAP benefits.

Standing in Bethel Baptist Church food pantry, located in one of Cincinnati’s food deserts, Reece and a clergy voiced their concerns for federal aid, despite state and local action.

On Thursday, county commissioners donated more than $222,000 in already allocated federal funds to the Freestore Foodbank, a nonprofit that provides food and resources to those in need.
