Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux is leaving the organization to join the Los Angeles Angels.

Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports first reported Maddux’s departure for the Angels on Friday. The Athletic’s Sam Blum reported later Friday morning that the Angels confirmed they have hired Maddux as pitching coach.

Two more MLB manager positions have been filled

The 64-year-old Maddux helped guide the Rangers to a World Series title in 2023 and to a league-leading 3.41 ERA in 2025. But he chose to leave after the Rangers replaced fired manager Bruce Bochy with Skip Schumaker.
