GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — Meijer is expanding its fight against hunger across the Midwest, pledging $4 million in new donations to food banks and pantries serving families in need through its long-running Simply Give program, the grocery chain announced Friday .

The Grand Rapids, Michigan-based retailer said the funds will reach food banks across six states, including Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin, where the company operates hundreds of stores. The initiative will help restock shelves at organizations equipped to serve the growing demand for food assistance this season.
