First it was the senior football team and now the Algonquin Barons junior football team captured the NDA (Nipissing District Association) Championship Thursday night with a 21–0 victory over the SJSH Bears.
Cam Smetana led the offence with two touchdowns, and rushing for 100 yards.
Defensively, the Barons earned their fourth shutout in six games, allowing only 15 points all season. Isaac Jacobs, Jesse McGill, Thomas N’Gueyo-Côté, and Brayden Groves led the defensive charge with multiple tackles for losses and a quarterback sack each.
Félix Bélanger had two interceptions (and kicked three converts on offence), while Carter Showers and Cam Smetana each added one.
