PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A Portland City Councilor has come out in opposition to the proposed Portland parks levy, which is up for a vote right now in a Tuesday special election.
Councilor Dan Ryan, who represents District 2 covering most of North and Northeast Portland, says it's not fair for the city to keep coming back to voters for another tax increase.
If passed, the new property tax would begin in 2026, raising $456 million over a five-year-period.
In a formal release sent out Friday, Ryan also cited limitations, including that system development charges can only go to new parks construction.
