BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) — Bristol police and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) are investigating after a deer head was left outside the door of a Bristol home.

The DEM's Law Enforcement Division told 12 News the incident happened on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 30, but didn't specify the location.

Archery deer hunting season began on Sept. 15. The DEM, in partnership with the town of Bristol, opened four areas of town-owned property in an effort to reduce the deer population.

Those properties include Minturn, Hopeworth, Skater's Pond and 100 Acre Woods.
