This offseason, free agency is set to be full of many big-name stars across the league, but the New York Yankees are not expected to target one of the biggest names of all.
The Yankees have multiple holes in their roster that they need to fill this offseason, but first base is not one of them. Though he spent some time this season playing catcher, second-year starter Ben Rice appears to be the Yankees' primary first baseman moving forward. Not only did Rice take a massive step forward offensively in his second year, slashing .255/.337/.499 while mashing 26 home runs and driving in 65 runs this season, but the Yankees have Austin Wells behind the dish under team control through the 2028 season.
