Baton Rouge Metro Airport has started a food drive in support of its federal employees with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Air Traffic Control, who are going without paychecks during the federal government shutdown, the airport said this week.

"These essential federal employees continue to serve the traveling public with unwavering commitment — despite the ongoing government shutdown and working without pay," the airport said in an online post.

The airport is collecting non-perishable food items and canned goods to support the workers and their families, it said.

Items can be dropped off in collection bins at the front of the terminal and on the second floor.
