Monaco got the 92-84 home win over Panathinaikos and tied the Greeks for a 5-3 record after eight rounds in the EuroLeague.
Elie Okobo, with 15 points, and Mike James, with 13 and eight assists, led the charge in a team effort for the winners.
The guests got 26 points from Kendrick Nunn, but they were not enough.
Playing without injured Richaun Holmes and still missing Mathias Lessort, plus the Greek duo of Nikos Rogkavopoulos and Alexandros Samodurov, Panathinaikos had limited frontline options and paid for that.
The hosts opened the game leading by seven (27-20) after the first period and by nine (50-41) at halftime. Thanks to a 9-2 run opening the second half, the Greeks made it a two-point game (52-50), but Monaco reacted and pushed the lead back to 10 (65-55).
