Syracuse, N.Y. - A Syracuse man who police say stabbed and nearly killed a pit bull last week was arrested Thursday.
The man, Raqueeb A. Shadreem, 47, was also accused of attacking the dog’s owner, police officers said in a felony complaint filed in Syracuse City Court.
Shadreem attacked a man with a box cutter in the early hours of Oct. 21, police officers said in the court papers.
On Oct. 21, a caller told 911 dispatchers they had seen a lot of blood outside a house on the 500 block of East Willow Street. The pit bull was found in a nearby home and taken to the veterinary hospital.
Animal shelter staff named the dog Chance. The pet’s owner named the dog Papa King, police said.
