Proposed expansion of Hanover’s boundary presents an “almost generational” opportunity for economic development and residential growth for the southern Grey County town and its neighbours.

That’s how big a deal adding about 1,600 acres from West Grey in exchange for $10 million paid out over 20 years would be, Hanover Mayor Sue Paterson said in an interview.

Hanover and West Grey have come to an agreement in principle to expand Hanover’s boundaries into areas of West Grey to the east, north and south. The next step in the boundary adjustment process is to gather public feedback at a meeting Nov. 19.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Elmwood Community Centre. The councils of West Grey and Hanover will be joint hosts.
