A 25-year-old Kabaddi player, Tejpal Singh, was shot dead in broad daylight in Jagraon, Punjab, on Friday. The incident occurred near the office of the Ludhiana (Rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), raising concerns about safety in the area.

Tejpal was in Jagraon for personal reasons and was walking with two friends on Hari Singh Hospital Road when a group of five to six men confronted them. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants brutally attacked Tejpal before one of them shot him in the chest. His friends quickly took him to a local hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

SSP Ankur Gupta stated that the police have identified the suspects and teams have been dispatched to apprehend them. Initial investigations suggest that the murder may be linked to an old rivalry. Gupta mentioned that CCTV footage from the scene is being reviewed to gather more evidence.

The police have registered a case and are conducting multiple raids to locate the suspects. Two of the identified assailants are known as Honey and Kala, both from Roomi village, while a third suspect, Gagan from Moga, is still under verification. The police are continuing their efforts to ensure justice for Tejpal Singh, a national-level Kabaddi player from Giddarwindi village near Jagraon.
